  • DMTF Announces AMD as New Board Member

BEAVERTON, Ore. September 6, 2007 The Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF), the industry organization leading the development, adoption and promotion of interoperable management standards and initiatives, today announced the addition of a new company to its 2007-2008 board of directors. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) recently joined the board and will help lead the organization into new industry initiatives and work to develop new management technologies. This addition reinforces DMTF's increasing focus on its strategic initiatives and emphasis on customer-facing efforts.

Throughout 2007-2008, the board of directors will focus on DMTF initiatives for IT management:

  • DASH (Desktop and mobile Architecture for System Hardware) standards for secure out-of-band and remote management of desktop and mobile systems
  • SMASH (Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware) architectural semantics, industry standard protocols and profiles to unify the management of the data center
  • CDM (Common Diagnostic Model) uniting the industry on a single interoperable interface for all system diagnostics
"We welcome AMD to help us define effective management standards and develop enablement tools and programs that will ultimately lead to interoperable management solutions that benefit our customers," said Winston Bumpus, DMTF president. "With the company's active participation and contribution to more than a dozen DMTF work groups, committees and forums over the past eight years, we are confident that AMD will continue the 15-year history of DMTF innovation."

Lars Ewe joins the DMTF board as the AMD representative. Other individuals representing the board member companies include:

  • Uri Elzur, Broadcom
  • Winston Bumpus, Dell
  • Wayne Adams, EMC

"AMD shares DMTF's goal of reducing system management costs through management interoperability and management standards," said Lars Ewe, Director Systems Manageability for AMD. "We are committed to driving and enabling interoperable industry standard interfaces for platform manageability, which allow the ecosystem of IT providers to deliver platforms and solutions that reduce overall IT management costs. By contributing to the DMTF, a respected industry organization that has successfully defined management standards, we believe our efforts to help define these standards and enable their rapid adoption will best serve our IT customers. AMD is pleased to now expand its contribution to the DMTF by serving as a board member."
