  • DMTF’s CDM Forum Launches Second New Conformance Test Suite

PORTLAND, Ore. – February 13, 2014 – The DMTF, the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on the development, validation and promotion of infrastructure management standards, today announced the availability of a new conformance suite designed for testing implementations against the Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) 1.0 and 2.0 specifications.

CDM 2.0 introduces six Optional Diagnostic Profiles that vendors can test against and list in the DMTF Certification Registry including CPU, Disk Drive, Ethernet NIC, Fibre Channel HBA, Optical Drive and RAID Controller Diagnostics.

The CDM Conformance Program provides test suites to vendors, enabling them to self-test DMTF-based solutions for conformance to their respective specifications. Vendors who validate their products' test results are eligible to list their products in the DMTF Certification Registry. This provides IT customers and vendors with increased confidence that products listed in the registry are manageable as defined by DMTF standards.

As an extension of the DMTF’s Common Information Model (CIM), the CDM specification is widely used within the industry to evaluate the health of computer systems in multi-vendor environments. CDM creates diagnostic instrumentation that can be utilized by platform management applications, and its tight synergy with the other manageability domains in CIM further enables integration of diagnostics into critical management functions. By developing the CDM Conformance Program, the CDM Forum provides a new level of interoperability validation to help drive adoption and implementation. Participation is not dependent on DMTF membership.

“This is an excellent illustration of continued activity, execution and progress towards delivering on improved health and fault management systems,” said Bob Freund, vice president of interoperability of the DMTF. “CDM 2.0 will benefit all of the DMTF’s initiatives, Alliance Partners and the industry as a whole.”

For more information on the CDM Conformance Program, or if your company is interested in testing its providers for CDM Conformance, please contact the Conformance Program Administrator at cdm_1.0_cpadmin@dmtf.org or visit www.dmtf.org/join/cdm-forum.
