  • DMTF Opens DASH 1.0 Conformance Program for Industry Participation

PORTLAND, Ore. – March 28 , 2011- Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, today announced it has opened the conformance programfor its Desktop and Mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) 1.0 standard to all interested vendors. Vendors can now validate their products for conformance with the DASH standard without being a DMTF member.

“It has always been our goal to make DMTF conformance programs widely available in the industry,” said Tom Butler, DMTF Vice President of Interoperability. “Many vendor solutions are developed around components based on DMTF standards. Expanding our conformance programs beyond the DMTF membership gives these vendors access to an additional layer of validation, providing their customers with increased confidence that their products will perform as expected according to the DASH standard.”

DASH delivers standards-based web services management for desktop and mobile client systems by leveraging the DMTF Web Services for Management (WS-MAN)specification. The DASH conformance program enables vendors to check their products for conformance to the standard, providing a mechanism for improving interoperability among solutions for secure out-of-band and remote management of desktop and mobile systems.

DMTF conformance programs are a key component of DMTF’s mission to promote interoperable IT solutions. The programs provide test suites to vendors, enabling them to test their solutions for conformance to the appropriate DMTF specifications. Using these test suites, vendors test their products in their own labs and submit results to DMTF for validation and certification. Vendors who validate their products’ test results are eligible to list their products in the DMTF Certification Registry. This provides IT customers and vendors with increased confidence that products listed in the registry are manageable as defined by DMTF standards.

In addition to DASH, DMTF currently offers conformance programs for its Common Diagnostic Model (CDM)standard. Companies interested in participating in any of the DMTF conformance programs should contact DMTF Administration at admin@dmtf.org.
